New Demo, Potential Artwork, and Potential Price Increase
Recently I was able to procure a deal with an artist to make artwork for N.i.P. at a fairly low price, one that is far more attainable than other quotes I have gotten in the past. Even still, it is a price far too high than what I can afford and several times more than the amount that the game has earned in thus far.
As things stand now, I would need to sell nearly 3000 copies of the game at 4USD to even break even on getting full artwork for the game. That is a very large number, and one that I am not even close to reaching. It is hopefully understandable that I would want something I put months of effort into to have some manner of return. As such, I will be potentially increasing the price of N.i.P. by 1-2USD. This shouldn't impact people that already own the game, as they will continue to own it - it will only impact new buyers of the game.
This price change will come into effect, if it happens, either late December or early January and will hopefully come alongside a small patch that will bring some artwork.
I estimate that for every 300USD or so the game brings in, I will be able to get one additional set of artwork. I'm trying to think of a way to determine which artworks I focus on as I am able to get them, instead of just going one-by-one. I figure that either a public poll, a Discord poll, or a Subscribestar poll would be a neat way to engage people in the further development of the game!
In other news...
You might also notice that the old DEMO - which was just a previous version of the game - has now been removed and replaced. This has been done to ensure that people trying the free version of the game are able to experience a polished product reflective of the current paid version. This new DEMO also prompts people to actually buy the full version of the game if they enjoyed the DEMO and provides some extra little things to ensure that people are not wasting their time with redoing all the progress they made on the free version.
I am hoping that this leads to more people trying out the game and committing to buying the full version - which I have put a lot of time and effort into.
Anyhow, enjoy! And have a wonderful winter~!

Hey im considering buying the game but could I ask what the extra little things are in the demo? like is it something that you unlock by finishing the demo or is it being able to reload your saves or something else?
OH also Ive been LOVING the post-grapple victory (with the seeder for example) additions in the demo I hope there's much more of that
Its a code that let's you skip the first half of the game, so that you don't have to replay it again.
However, I'm close to releasing a version that has this feature built in (due to Inform wonkiness, 'saves' aren't actually a real thing in the traditional sense. Instead I had to code an entire save function myself from scratch). This will allow you to save progress, and for older versions without the feature - will temporarily feature a passcode that kind of almost works (at least enough to port older versions to the new version).
As for the post-grapple victory scenes, there are a few things like that in the full version - though its definitely not every enemy. Not including enemies that can be found in the first half of the game there are three, including them - its five.
Does skipping the first half mean you dont get the secrets youd have gotten from defeating bosses or do you also get those bonuses?
With the code it skips those, with the new system you'll be able to keep them.
gotcha, ty for the answers! I havent finished the demo so I'll prolly just snatch the game before then. As for the grapple stuff I guess in general I'm looking forward to like, consequences or effects the enemies can leave you with, seems fun! Great job so far!
Yup, though just as an update I'm having some trouble getting the new save system to work for the demo release - so unfortunately folks might be stuck with just getting cheat-codes for clearing the demo until I can work it out properly.
